Movie “ChaO” Special Exhibition
Released last year, the animated feature film “ChaO” is an original animated film based on Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale “The Little Mermaid.”
The story follows Stephan, a young human man, who meets Chao, a princess from the mermaid kingdom. Set in a near-future world, the film unfolds as a miraculous and heartwarming romantic adventure filled with unexpected twists and lively comedy.
The film was produced by STUDIO4℃, the acclaimed animation studio behind feature films such as “Tekkonkinkreet” and “Fortune Favors Lady Nikuko.” It received the Jury Award in the Feature Film Competition at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France. It was also selected for the Animation Award at the 35th Japan Movie Critics Awards and has received multiple nominations at international animation and film festivals, making it one of the most talked-about animated films of recent years.
This exhibition features an overview panel introducing the film and its awards, as well as original key animation drawings from important scenes, storyboards, scripts, and setting materials.
Through these valuable production materials, visitors can gain insight into the techniques of Japanese animation production while experiencing the appeal of the film.
As a special admission gift, official movie pamphlets will be distributed to visitors.
