The Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the Association of Japanese Animations operate the Anime Tokyo Station, a center for the exhibition of Japanese animation, which attracts many visitors from Japan and abroad as a facility that communicates the appeal of Japanese animation to the world under the motto, "Making ANIME more interesting, Bringing ANIME far into the future"
On Friday, March 6, "Fan Meeting with Mr. Go Nagai" was held as a public recording event for the official YouTube channel distribution program of Anime Tokyo Station. This event was planned to boost the "Tokyo Anime Award Festival" to be held in Ikebukuro from Friday, March 13, in response to the cancellation of the "Angoulême International Comics Festival" held in France every year this year. With the idea of "bringing the energy of anime and manga to the world," we invited Mr. Go Nagai, the creator of many masterpieces such as "Mazinger Z" and "Devilman" to hold a fan meeting.
The event was moderated by Tomoko Hashitani, with guests including anime critic Ryota Fujitsu, writer Gigan Yamazaki representing Mr. Nagai's fans, and Go Nagai.
The talk corner proceeded with three themes: "Relationship between Manga and Anime," "Unexpectedly Popular in the Middle East," and "Question Corner from Fans. Mr. Fujitsu and Mr. Yamazaki interacted with fans as they asked core questions to Mr. Nagai, who has created numerous anime adaptations of his works. During the fan Q&A session, a fan asked, "Which work would you like to see animated that has not been made into an anime?" Mr. Nagai answered, "Ummm...what would you like to see in an anime? He answered, "I'd like to see anything. I am a welcoming person. He answered positively, "I would like to see anything. He continued, "The characters you draw are cool, both male and female. When asked, "What do you think about when creating characters? I want to draw beautiful characters, especially female characters, and I don't want to draw bad characters. If I create positive characters, they will move on their own, and it is easier to carry the storyline. This was an episode that could only be heard on this occasion, and Mr. Fujitsu and the fans in attendance nodded their heads as they listened to it.
The talk session ended quickly, and Mr. Fujitsu said, "I enjoyed hearing about your many stories again, and I wondered about your various paths to becoming an author. Mr. Yamazaki said, "I was born in 1985, so I wasn't able to witness the birth of a very famous title, but I easily became a fan because Mr. Nagai is always at the forefront of his work. As a fan, I am happy that he is drawing so many works as an active artist. He also commented, "As a fan, I am happy that he is drawing so many works as an active artist.
Then, voice actress Miina Tominaga, who played the role of Mephisto Dance in the 1992 anime "Hanappe Bazooka," made a surprise appearance! She said, "I heard that you were surrounded by fans today, so I rushed here! I had met her at events when the work was broadcast, but it's been a while since I've seen her. I used to see you at events when your works were broadcast, but it has been a long time since we last met. When we presented a bouquet of flowers to Mr. Nagai, he was surprised by the surprise and said, "Thank you very much, I am now over 80 years old, but I will continue to draw manga in good health. He expressed his joy and gratitude.
